This website was designed by a group of private citizens from across Maryland who were frustrated with the lethal tactics of many of our politicians and the lack of information available for living with deer. JAFA Technologies, Inc.
In a joint venture with IPTE, JAFA Technologies is the exclusive distributor of the Wildlife Crossing Guard in North America. This innovative new device is designed to reduce, with the ultimate goal of eliminating, deer-vehicle collisions as a result of night-time road crossings. Installed at intervals of 50 to 100 yards, activation occurs when headlights approach the unit during the time period from dusk to dawn when the vast majority of animal-vehicle collisions occur. When activated, the unit emits a sound that is meant to simulate that of a predator or a cry of fear. The sound is supplemented by a small strobe type light that is meant to represent reflection of movement from the predator’s eyes.

The Humane Society of the United States (February Deer Hunt Disturbs Nantucket)
Nantucketers disliked the February deer hunt so strongly that local animal protection advocates and hunters alike convinced the Board of Selectmen to request that the state rescind the hunt. In response, the state held a public hearing in November 2005, where The HSUS and members of the public convinced the Fish and Game Board to eliminate the hunt for good.

Pennsylvania ranks at the top of the list for numbers of deer killed during hunting season (firearms and bowhunting) across the nation. Deer were imported from other states, habitat was modified to enhance deer viability, trap and transport was used to move deer from densely populated areas into low density areas, and vegetation was planted to feed deer. Within 25 years, deer numbers rebounded to the point were now we have MANY safety issues.
